Preterism a manger

This post is a joyful journey through the crazy world of the preterist. Let's start munching our way through this nonsense.

..................................

1.

Mat 16:28  Truly I say to you, that there are some of those standing here who will never experience death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."
Mar 9:1  And he said to them, "Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power."

Above are texts that your average preterist will quote to prove that it all happened back there in A.D 70.

However,  look at this:-

One of those 'standing here' would have most likely been the apostle John.
John recorded the revelation that was given to Jesus Christ by the Father.
So, before John's physical tent (his earthly body) was destroyed, he saw 'the Son of Man coming in his kingdom'.

Consider this also.
John 8:51:-
Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death.”

That kind of nails it, really. The apostles physical bodies came to an end but they themselves did not experience death.

2Co 5:1  For we know that if our earthly house, the tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens.
2Co 5:2  For indeed, in this house we groan, because we desire to put on our dwelling from heaven,
2Co 5:3  if indeed, even after we have taken it off, we will not be found naked.
2Co 5:4  For indeed we who are in this tent groan, being burdened [for this reason, that] we do not want to be unclothed, but to be clothed, in order that what is mortal may be swallowed up by life.
2Co 5:5  Now the one who has prepared us for this very thing is God, who has given us the down payment, the Spirit.

If we have the spirit of the Lord living in us, our future is secured:-
"who has given us the down payment, the Spirit."
and we shall not experience death before we see "the Son of Man coming in his kingdom".

Again:-
Joh 11:25  Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
Joh 11:26  and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?

That is what the Word of the Lord states. I'm not going to argue with that. Why would I?

Next up:-

Act 1:6  So when they had come together, they asked him, "Lord, will you at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?"
Act 1:7  He said to them, "It is not for you to know times or seasons that the Father has fixed by his own authority.
Act 1:8  But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."
Act 1:9  And when he had said these things, as they were looking on, he was lifted up, and a cloud took him out of their sight.
Act 1:10  And while they were gazing into heaven as he went, behold, two men stood by them in white robes,
Act 1:11  and said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will come in the same way as you saw him go into heaven."

So, er, did anyone actually see the Lord return in A.D 70. Sorry, didn't quite catch that. Oh... it was a spiritual return, oh I see.....hohoho.

3.

Dan 8:17  So he came near where I stood. And when he came, I was frightened and fell on my face. But he said to me, "Understand, O son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end."

Dan 12:9  He said, "Go your way, Daniel, for the words are shut up and sealed until the time of the end.
Dan 12:10  Many shall purify themselves and make themselves white and be refined, but the wicked shall act wickedly. And none of the wicked shall understand, but those who are wise shall understand.
Dan 12:11  And from the time that the regular burnt offering is taken away and the abomination that makes desolate is set up, there shall be 1,290 days.
Dan 12:12  Blessed is he who waits and arrives at the 1,335 days.

Just so happens I have discovered the link between the 1335 days and the 2300 evenings and mornings of Daniel chapter 8 ( see 2300 ) as we approach the end of the age. It has just come to light and has never been recognized until the 2300 post was published. It was certainly not known in A.D 70.
