Babylon (to be or not to be) and the beast

Babylon (to be or not to be) and the beast

here is a common statement:-
"Daniel 2, 7, and 8 all depict the same succession of empires starting with Babylon, then Media-Persia, then Greece, then Rome "

I notice though that daniel chapter 7 verses 11-12 says

11 “I looked then because of the sound of the great words that the horn was speaking. And as I looked, the beast was killed, and its body destroyed and given over to be burned with fire. 12 As for the rest of the beasts, their dominion was taken away, but their lives were prolonged for a season and a time.

However, here we see that the lives of the three beasts were prolonged AFTER the fourth beast is killed, burnt up, etc.

Now when belshazzar lost it in babylon, that was the end of babylon. OK, we see iran and greece today, but NOT Babylon, there is nothing left of it in any shape or form that I know of.

Therefore the first beast of Daniel 7 cannot be Babylon, at least not according to Daniel chapter 7.

Is there a simple answer? I think so.

Rev 17:8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to rise from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

The composite beast of revelation that echoes Daniel 7 will make the earth dwellers "marvel to see the beast".

You see, this latter day beast WAS!!!, currently is NOT (as far as I am aware) and yet is about to rise from the bottomless pit.

Daniel 7 is talking about this latter day beast that is due to rise from the bottomless pit. This beast is made up of the components of the statue of Daniel chapter 2.

aaah, it's sooo simple.
You gotta smile :)

Not sure. Look again:-

Rev 17:11 As for the beast that was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction.
Destruction. Mmm, this is the key to it all

23 “Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast, there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all the kingdoms, and it shall devour the whole earth, and trample it down, and break it to pieces.  24 As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise, and another shall arise after them;he shall be different from the former ones, and shall put down three kings.  25  He shall speak words against the Most High, and shall wear out the saints of the Most High, and shall think to change the times and the law;and they shall be given into his hand for a time, times, and half a time.  26  But the court shall sit in judgment, and his dominion shall be taken away,to be consumed and destroyed to the end.  27  And the kingdom and the dominion and the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven shall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High; his kingdom shall be an everlasting kingdom, and all dominions shall serve and obey him.’
It is the fourth beast only in Daniel 7 that gets the full destruction treatment. Thus it is the beast that is an eighth in Rev 17 that is the fourth beast of Daniel 7.

Look - the other 3 beasts remain for a bit after the fourth is destroyed and this is why:-
And the kingdom and the dominionand the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heavenshall be given to the people of the saints of the Most High.
What remains after the fourth beast is destroyed is given to the saints. Light dawns, does it not?

Let us also note that when the fourth beast arises, it is the time of the end:-

Dan 7:24 As for the ten horns, out of this kingdom ten kings shall arise, and another shall arise after them;he shall be different from the former ones, and shall put down three kings.
Rev 17:12, And the ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings for one hour, together with the beast.
At this stage, I am not going to try to identify the first 3 beasts. They may or may not already be existing. All I shall say is this:-
23 “Thus he said: ‘As for the fourth beast, there shall be a fourth kingdom on earth, which shall be different from all the kingdoms, and it shall devour the whole earth, and trample it down, and break it to pieces.
The fourth beast, at the time of the end, is different.
